Our Story

“At Madsen we take pride in hearing that our customers love the taste and texture of our naturally raised beef. We actively seek feedback to improve our process and product, and we think that’s just part of the reason that over 90% of customers choose Madsen Beef again.” - Brad MacLaughlin

A passionate pursuit.

Madsen Beef is born in the family farming tradition of Peter Madsen who immigrated to the United States from Denmark six generations ago. Thad Madsen is carrying on this heritage, with his uncle Brad MacLaughlin - who was lucky enough to marry into the Madsen family. Inspired by the love of ranching, Thad and Brad launched Madsen Beef in 2019 to bring high quality beef to their friends and neighbors. Now you can share in their passion too.

Down the road from KC.

The Madsen ranch is located in Odessa, Missouri 35 miles to the east of Kansas City - a city known for its thriving stockyards in the first half of the 20th Century. By the 1940s, Kansas City stockyards were second in size, only to Chicago. After the great flood of 1951, the stockyards never recovered. For generations, the Madsen family farmed in rural Lafayette County surrounding Odessa, Missouri - making it the perfect home for Madsen Beef.

Building on legacy.

Just like the Madsen family farmers before us, we put purpose behind everything we do. From the treatment of our animals, to the nutritional makeup of our feed, and taking care of our customers. We know, that sustainable farming and relationships are critical. And we do it with a long term goal in mind: Providing our children with the land, facilities, knowledge and care for others that will keep Madsen going strong generations into the future.
